The reception, hosted by Dr. Reese Barrick, director of Sternberg Museum, and Dr. Ed Hammond, president of Fort Hays State University, will be held on Sunday, 12 September 2010, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sternberg.  Food and drink (plus a cash bar) will be available.  The event will be open to the public.
Copies of the new book will be available for purchase (at a 10% discount) from Excavations Gift Shop and the three authors (and possibly the artist) will be there to autograph them. 
 
There also will be a live snake display where participants may touch and hold a variety of snakes native to Kansas, including four venomous species (not to touch, of course!).
 
The authors might also tell funny snake stories.

Many people in our community live daily with pain due to arthritis, fibromyalgia, cancer, headaches, nerve disorders, back problems, and many other causes.  

At this come & go event, there will be information available on where to find help and support, as well as information on specific pain conditions, and how to advocate for your own pain care.  This is not a pain clinic.

Also participating will be a massage therapist, a pharmacist and medical equipment provider, a physical therapist, an exercise therapist specializing in arthritis, an aromatherapist, a mental health therapist and a pain support group leader. These professionals will be available to answer questions about the services they provide.
